No trip to Europe would be complete without a trip to Bavaria and the famous “Fairyland Castle” – Neuschwanstein – so, we went. Fun, festive, and interesting, too. We also visited Oberammergau, home to the “Passion Play” and the “carver to the Pope” – his name lost to memory. He was in his nineties, as you can see in the photo, when we were there. He had just signed our purchase (the owl carving) with Peggy watching on. Unfortunately, he signed with a Magic Marker and the wood, over time, absorbed all the ink until it is no longer visible. Good thing we have the photo! This was one of only two trips we took with tour buses.
