Summer 2014 Extended trip to East Coast
In 2014, after putting a trip back east off for several years, Robert turned 70. Wait. We put the trip off for several years, but, try as he may, Robert couldn’t figure out how to put off 70. Anyway, in 2014, Robert hit the big seven-oh and realized “Times a wastin’!” We had been planning to head back east to seek out long lost relatives and friends (not really long lost, since we knew where everyone was) and a good tax return gave us the opportunity. So,we took it. The tax return and the trip. We went 11,300 miles in 86 days in our All Terrain Camper equipped Dodge Dakota and had a ball!
Driving to Nesbitt’s After our visit to New England, we headed south on July 5th toward Columbia MD, home to one of Peggy’s mentors, Nesbitt. It was an interesting drive through five states: Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut. On Sunday, the 6th of July, it was on through southern New York and […]
Gallivanting in Vienna VA and Washington DC, 8 & 9 July. It is a relatively short drive from Columbia MD to Vienna VA. However, one does have to drive around Washington DC, which has LOTS of traffic. *Update: Shauna has moved a step up the career ladder and is no longer in Athens. Niece Shauna took good care of us and showed us a good time in Athens, GA when we visited in mid July. Camping in Georgia After our fun in Raleigh, NC with David and Elisa, we headed further south. […]
In Atlanta, we visited cousin Lee and her family: son’s Daniel and Nicholas; daughter Anna. They were a delight to visit. Lee and her family live close to Stone Mountain, Georgia. It is granite geological feature that is the center of a county theme park (see photo below). It was a nice place to camp; […]
In Alabama, we went to Tuskegee. One of the purposes of our big Adventure 2014 was to go to places we have never been to before. We particularly like national parks and monuments. Tuskegee held a natural attraction to us: it has history and a national park. So, as we departed Atlanta, GA, we headed […]
